The Majestic Narwhal

I made this little guy for my boyfriend.  I was planning on knitting him a hat but couldn't find any patterns I liked, so on a whim I looked up patterns for narwhals (my boyfriend's favourite animal and indeed the world's top real-life magical creature).  Credit where it is due; I got the pattern from Ramen Needles - here, have a link http://ramenneedles.blogspot.com/2011/08/narwhal-pattern.html . I made him using aran wool for the body and double knit wool for the horn,  the eyes are buttons that I scavenged off a top I haven't worn in a while (might regret that one).
This was my first time crocheting so it took me a while to get the hang of it, but there are so many helpful tutorials online (seriously what were we all like before YouTube? Going to the library like gobshites...).  I'm pretty pleased with him, amigurumi crochet was something on my hit list to try for a while so I'm delighted I got the hang of it.  I though that I'd find it difficult because I'm so used to knitting but they're really totally different.  The biggest thing to get used to was holding the wool in my left hand rather than my right...unless I didn't do it properly...

Coming Home

Thought I'd share this great short film with you.  It was made by Tile Films and it has an uplifting message for anyone affected by breast cancer.  It is free to download, watch and share at http://comingho.me . Enjoy!

Muffin Tops

Nope, I'm not talking about that little bulge over your trousers... what bulge anyway? Sure, you're gorgeous!
No, I'm talking about these little heart muffin toppers I made yesterday (sensing a theme here?)...I had to summon a strength I never knew I had to stop myself milling into the muffins before I finished taking the pictures...

Look for Love

I recently went to Toronto and stumbled upon this while walking through the city.  I love that someone turned something totally unremarkable and boring into something interesting and beautiful.

Tip Toppity Toppery

Whoops a daisy...been a while...But look! Here's some pictures of stuff that I did!

I've never made a wedding topper before, or even used clay much before, but I'm nothing if not a tryer! It was made for my friends wedding, they wanted it to have a bit of humour and a bit of booze so this is what they got!  I made it using sculpey polymer clay which I found quite nice to work with.  I'm planning on making a couple more and experimenting with different materials.  So watch this space!
